Easy Way to Farm Seraph Crystals Axton

A Strategy Guide

Hyperius the Invincible is one of two new raid bosses from the Captain Scarlett DLC which have a 24 hour lockout period after defeating them. He is located in the Washburn Refinery and cannot be accessed until accepting the quest Hyperius the Invincible. He also drops 7 seraph crystals which allow you to buy items from the seraph vendor in Oasis.

A few things that will be covered:

  • Hyperius solo strategy
  • Hyperius two man stratgey
  • Hyperius 3-4 man strategy
  • Hyperius' Base Abilities

Hyperius' Base Abilities

Blastwave (a general attack he'll do every so often)

  • Summons 4 robots at the beginning of the fight (Hyperius' Minion)
  • Shoots rockets and what appear to be saw blades very rarely
  • Minions shoot rockets as well ( in clusters of 5-6)

The attacks you will have to worry the most about are the blastwaves. The blastwaves are incredibly strong and are enough to bring everyone not equipped for the fight to their knees instantly. The fight starts out with Hyperius charging the blast and summoning his 4 robots simultaneously.

This First blast will destroy your shields and is followed by another blast almost instantly that will bring your life down to nothing. Throughout the fight Hyperius will randomly do this blastwave and around the 50-60 % mark he gives one off that seems to have increased damage, enough to bring anyone using The Bee into FFYL.

He will usually rarely do his rocket attack/saw blade attack and they are easily avoidable.

His minions will shoot off rockets in clusters of 5-6 which are also easily dodge-able.

After things kick off..

You'll notice that Hyperius has a yellowing cylindrical barrier around him. This barrier significantly reduces gun damage and also will reflect the bullets if you're close enough to him. You'll also notice the beam that connects the robots to hyperius. By damaging the robots enough the beams will dissipate and the robot that was damaged will raise his shield (exactly like Hyperius'). You must damage all the robots, but be fast because once the beam is interrupted they will begin a cooldown to when the beam will go back up again. And if you're not quick enough you'll be stuck in a loop where you'll only be able to bring Hyperius' shield down for a couple of seconds. After all of the robots have their beams interrupted Hyperius' shield will go down and he will do his shield blastwave, which is just as devastating as a regular blastwave. So now you've probably begun to see a problem. If you take down the shields too fast each time you'll get nuked entirely more than you want to...not that you want to get nuked of course. The best way to avoid these shield blasts is to kill three robots and leave one of course and not damaging it. With the right gear and specs you should be able to get Hyperius' health down to about where his name ends, if not a little bit further away. You want to leave it there and the reason for that is...

Where things get ugly

When Hyperius gets down to a certain health percentage or you kill all the robots (which ever comes first) Hyperius will begin to jump around. And everytime he lands he'll let out a blastwave. This is where you might see a lot more of the rockets and saw blades. His aggro is completely random as well so there's really no way to control here he goes unless you have a Gunzerker taunt him. You want to kill that robot right at around the spot aforementioned earlier (around the end of his name) and begin to hit him with everything you got. It is noteworthy to mention that he can be staggered very slightly and I've personally seen it interrupt a blastwave. Do not count on this stagger though because it will not always happen. After you have succefully avoided his leaps-o-death you will be able to enjoy your loot! Just kidding because he rarely drops anything of worth besides the crystals. The most important aspect of this fight is to'KEEP' MOVING. I cannot stress that enough. I have had multiple wipes on Hyperius because people weren't paying attention or just straight up jumped into a rocket.

Solo Strategy

Hyperius can be and already has been solo'd multiple times by various people. The easiest way this has been done is with the Baby Maker, a Tediore SMG, and The Bee. The reason the throw-to-reload is so important is because it can obliterate Hyperius in a matter of seconds with a Tediore relic. When a throw-to-reload gun is reloaded it consumes all the remaining ammo in the clip and combines it with a base damage the gun already gets from the throw. So firing one shot and throwing it causes a deadly combination of insane burst damage. If you manage to kill Hyperius fast enough you wont even have to worry about his blast waves HOWEVER, the robots will still spawn so you'll have to deal with them as well.

Two Man Strategy

There are a number of combinations that work very well for Hyperius' and the one I have personal experience with is the Siren and Assassin. Although there are videos of a Gunzerker and a Commando killing Hyperius so it's the choice that works the best for you and your companion. I highly recommed using a healer/rez-er spec'd Siren for this fight since going down can be a huge problem with only two people.Your healer should also have a good shield equiped so that they can live through the blastwaves; as for relics use anything that increases maximum health. Your damage dealer is recommended to have The Bee equipped and a great gun such as the Maggie. This way you can blast right through Hyperius even with his shield up, as well as his minions. It takes a little bit of fine tuning but it's completely do-able. Just like your mother.

Three-Four Man Strategy

If you've had no luck with either the solo or two man strategy, grab a few friends and try to kick this guys ass. You'll want a Siren spec'd for healing for sure. Make sure you guys aren't grouped too far apart either during the first phase of the fight, but don't be too close to the point where your paths will overlap so you don't eat a rocket that was meant for your teammate. The reason being that the ground is not completely flat and your Siren could have a tough time reviving you and even healing you. Secondly bring on the damage dealers. You will certainly need to pack on the dps because of the increased health from the extra players. If your running a three man game you can use two damage deals as well; you don't really need a tank for this fight at all if you can destroy him fast enough at the end. As for the four man the choice is again yours; but I do recommend that you have Tankzerker for the second phase since it'll be chaotic as all hell without one It's also a good idea since the Tankzerker can taunt Hyperius to himself and then the focus firing will go a little bit smoother.

Congratulations!

You've succefully asserted dominance over Hyperius and his minions! Time to celebrate over his dead corpse with pimentacos! Of course your celebration will end when you have to kill it again in 24 hours.
